Riding for a Reason

October 19, 2008
Location: Canton, CT

Event benefits: Lance Armstrong Foundation

Phone: 860-212-0884

Riding for a Reason, coordinated by Canton High School Senior Ryan Abraham is set to take place this October 19th with many sponsorships, participants, and activities. Profits will go directly to the Lance Armstrong Foundation for cancer prevention, access to screening and care, improvement of the quality of life for cancer survivors and investment in research

The idea for Riding for a Reason came from Ryan who is a senior at Canton High School . Seniors are allowed to take part in a Senior Project Class where students pick a topic of personal interest to explorer and develop. Ryan felt that raising money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation would be a great topic with a lot of opportunity to develop, thus Riding for a Reason came about.

We are hoping to raise over $10,000 to give directly to the Lance Armstrong Foundation. We are also hoping to attract as many people as possible by offering 100, 50, and 30 mile bike tours as well as 10 and 5 K Run/Walk/Skate tours throughout that Farmington Valley Greenway and Farmington River Trails.

Charter Oak Health Plan

Whether you believe health insurance is a right or a privilege, there’s no arguing that it is a necessity. But for many Connecticut residents – employees of small businesses, people between jobs, young graduates, early retirees — affordable health coverage has been out of reach. All of that is changing with the Charter Oak Health Plan.

The goal of the Charter Oak Health Plan is to provide universal access to affordable health care coverage to Connecticut adults, aged 19 to 64, of all incomes. It’s the first time every uninsured adult in Connecticut can get quality, affordable health insurance, and it costs as little as $75 per month in premiums, depending on your income.
